Jeptha was born in Scotland Co. NC 8 Nov 1837. He enlisted 1 July 1862 and served in Capt. Catlenn's Co B 33rd Regiment NC Inf. He served at Malvern Hill, Cedar Mountain, 2nd Mannasas, Chantilly, Harper's Ferry, Sharpsburg, Shepardstown and Fredricksburg. He is given a disability certificate for Calculus in bladder and discharged at Gen Hosp. #2 at Lynchburg Va. He died 18 Mar 1894 and is buried in his native soil of North Carolina.

Attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill 1854-1855. Married 13 Sept 1855 to Hannah Gainer Drupenia Staton. Enlisted age 25 on 20 Sept 1861. Mustered out at Rocky Mount, NC June 2, 1862, died the next day.
I do not know if he died from wounds sustained during the Battle of Seven Pines or if he saw any of his family before he died.

Price first mustered in as a (16 year old?) Sergeant with the 17th Regiment, North Carolina Infantry (brother-in-law surname Martin?). Price escaped Union capture in 1861 and reenlisted with the 33rd NC Infantry as a Private. Lost one leg. Reassigned to the Invalid Corps in late 1864-early 1865--Captain (rank out). Survived the war. Originally from Rocky Mount, Price married ? Lacey; relocated to White, Arkansas; and fathered seven - nine children--2 males. Desendent surnames: Price, Woods, Martin, Freeland, Mack. A 1 page post war memoire recounts Civil War highlights before reassigned to the Invalid Corps in 1864-5. Grandson Price Woods, USN, KIA 1943-44, WW2 Destroyer. Grandson Guy Thomas Freeland, USA, KIA 1964, Viet Nam.

Capt. Corzine has a memorial headstone in the Cold Water Baptist Church Cemetery, Concord, NC.


He was the brother of Pvt. James C. Corzine also of Co C, 33rd NC, buried at Cold Water Baptist Church, Concord, NC and Pvt. Robert Washington Corzine of Co C, 62nd NC, buried at Reeves Cemetery, Waynesville, Haywood County, NC.

David was a cousin to Mary Anna Morrison wife of Gen. Stonewall Jackson, Isabella S. Morrison wife of Gen. D.H. Hill, and Eugenia Erixene Morrison wife of Gen. Rufus Clay Barringer.

Enlisted at age 24 on July 17, 1862. Served in many engagements during the war including the 'Pettigrew - Trimble Charge' better know as Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg.

Paroled at Appomattox on 9 Apr. 1865 when Gen. Lee surrendered.


James is buried in the Cold Water Baptist Church Cemetery, Concord, NC. James' brother, Capt. David Morrison Corzine also of Co C, 33rd NC was killed in action July 28, 1864 at First Battle of Deep Bottom / Gravel Hill, Va. David's grave is in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va and there is a memorial headstone for David in the Cold Water Baptist Church Cemetery, Concord, NC.

Enlisted 1861 in Co C 'Cabarrus Hornets', Concord, Cabarrus County,NC.

Fought with Co C 'Cabarrus Hornets' at Gettysburg when the 33rd made the Pettigrew - Trimble Charge, better known as 'Pickett's Charge' on 3 Jul 1963. Company C was commanded by his cousin Capt. David Morrison Corzine who was later killed at First Battle of Deep Bottom in the Petersburg Campaign.

Wounded 5 May 1864 in Battle of the Wilderness. Slightly wounded and captured on 25 Mar 1865 at Petersburg, Va. Held prisoner for 48 days at Point Lookout, MD on 31 Mar 1865. Paroled on 14 May 1865 after taking Oath of Allegience.

Returned to Concord, Cabarrus Co., NC. Left Cabarrus County for Texas the following year with a large migration of residence of Cabarrus County. Their purpose was to escape the oppression of Reconstruction and obtain free land in Texas.

Settled in Rockwall County, Texas with his family and there died on 8 Jan 1893. Buried at Blackland Cemetery, Blackland, Rockwall County, Texas.

My Great Grandfather Shive joined the 33rd at the onset of the formation of this glorious unit at the beginning. He was captured at the second battle of Gettysburg and sent to Point Look-out Prison, served a few months before signing on with the 1st U.S. Volunteer Infantry, being sent west to fight Sitting Bull, during a battle he became wounded by a arrow, then was released from service; He then joined the 13th Mississippi, fighting form the Souther cause once again with his brother; upuntil General Lee's surrender. Great Grandfather Shive traveled a lot before settling in Florida

My great-grandfather, he enlisted in 1862 and served in the
Army of Northern Virginia from the Seven Days to Gettysburg, captured at Falling Waters, MD on July 14, 1863. Sent to Point Lookout, MD POW camp until exchanged in March, 1864. He rejoined his unit at Petersburg, VA in June of that year. Captured again at the Battle of Fort Stedman, VA on March 25, 1865 and sent again to Point Lookout until released after the war in May, 1865. Returned to Forsyth County, NC where he lived until his death on February 28, 1916 at the age of 75.

Henry was born 11 Sep 1833 in Mecklenburg Co NC. He was about 29 years old when he was conscripted on 1 July 1862. His wife had died in Feb 1860 and he was raising two small children. His first fight was at New Bern, NC. He fought in 17 major battles before being captured during Gen. Lee's retreat from Gettysburg. Captured 14 July 1863 at Falling Waters Md. He was moved to Point Lookout Md. where he died 28 Jan 1864 of chronic diarhoea. He has 23 cards in his archival file. A letter to his father Asa survives and he writes about not having shoes or a blanket. The weather is rainy and he has had nothing to eat all day except for a small bit of wet flower that he had to buy. He was the father in law of my 3rd cousin 4 times removed Louisa E Lotharp.

I am looking to find as much information as possible regarding my cousin Francis J Ketner of Co. I, 33rd NC. He was wounded during Pickett's/Pettigrew's charge and was removed by Union troops following the retreat. He later was sent to Point Lookout, MD before rejoining his unit thereafter. He then served as a mailboy for General Lane and was present at Appomattox when General Lee surrendered.
